Bouquets to Arts | De Young Museum | San Francisco

Every year I look forward to the annual Bouquets to Arts at the De Young Museum.  If you have never attended this spectacular event, you are missing out on one of San Francisco’s quintessential events.  Each year, the Bay Area’s top floral designers are invited to pick a piece of art in the museum and interpret the piece with flowers.  Some of the creations are literal interpretations, some are abstract, some make me smile and some just want me to scratch my head.  In either case, the creations are all intriguing and inspiring.   My favorite piece this year has to be photo #16, the floral arrangement on the library books which was created by Nancy Liu Chin.  In fact, she creates my favorite piece every year!

  • Wow, these are amazing! We can’t wait to go to this event one of these days!

  • Hi Kevin,
Thank you for selecting my exhibit as one of your favorites, the one with the figure. The bouquets to art exhibit means so much to me. As a struggling art student the de Young became my friend for inspiration and delight. Some of my art instructors from college and art school are represented in Galleries 14 and 15 (my favorites.

What keeps me centered is art and always has been. To return to the museum and represent those artists with flowers to me is giving back. This year, our exhibit was dedicated to my current life drawing teacher.

Again thank you. I think the world of your lovely wife Nancy, and often find my daily floral inspiration from her blogs.

What a great team you are.
